Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary are advertising for opportunities to transfer as substantive police constables, sergeants, inspectors, detective constables, detective sergeants, detective inspectors and detective chief inspectors.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply to transfer to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, officers must hold the appropriate qualification, experience, competencies, values, and behaviours. Officers will need to:

  • Be a serving police officer in a Home Office force and have completed their probationary period and attained any associated qualification and confirmed in the rank of constable before applying to transfer. If you are not currently serving in a Home Office force, but you have served in a Home Office force previously substantive in rank, you would be eligible to apply to transfer.
  • Hold a full manual driving licence.
  • Pass the necessary vetting and occupational health checks.
  • Pass the basic fitness test, which is a shuttle run (bleep test) to the required level.
  • Have no outstanding disciplinary or integrity issues.
  • Be able to show commitment to achieving high levels of attendance, judged against absence records for the last three years.
  • Have resided in the UK for three years immediately prior to submitting their application
  • Not be a member of the British National Party (BNP) or similar organisation
Application Process

Step 1: Upon submitting your application, your application will be reviewed to ensure you meet the eligibility requirements.

Step 2: Your application will be sent for shortlisting.

Step 3: If your application has been successful at the shortlisting stage, you will then be invited to attend interview.

Step 4: If you are successful at interview, you will then be made a ‘conditional offer’ to start your pre-employment checks. This will include Right to Work documents, references, vetting, medical, Job-Related Fitness Test (JRFT) alongside any required qualifications (if applicable)

Step 5: Once you have cleared all required pre-employment checks, and a start date has been arranged, when you join Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, you will attend a 5-day induction course on your first week. The induction course is our opportunity to welcome you to the force and for you to settle in. We will also cover any training gaps before you then move into your posting location. After you have attended your induction course, you will then move into your posting location, to start providing a fantastic service to the people of Hampshire and Isle of Wight.
