Supporting our LGBT+ Colleagues and Communities
Our LGBT+ Network
Our LGBT+ Network offers advice, guidance and support to officers, staff and volunteers on all matters relating to LGBT+ communities – both internally and externally.
We support people of all sexual orientations and gender identities, those who are questioning, and anyone supporting LGBT+ individuals.
The network provides a safe, welcoming space for people to connect and access support, while also helping shape our organisation through awareness, education and guidance for managers and leaders.
Open to everyone across the constabulary, the network supports colleagues at every level.

LGBT+ Link Officers
LGBT+ Link Officers are trained police officers and staff who provide specialist insight into LGBT+ issues and support both colleagues and the public.
Established in 1996 and updated in 2022 to better reflect the full LGBT+ community, the role is key to building trust and strengthening relationships.
They help improve investigations, encourage reporting of hate crime and domestic abuse, and support us in delivering a more inclusive service.
LGBT+ Executive Committee
Our LGBT+ Executive Committee is made up of elected officers and staff who drive inclusion across the organisation.
They provide confidential support, contribute to policies and training, and offer guidance to leaders and teams.
Members are elected every three years to ensure the network continues to represent and support our people.
