ARV Firearms Officer, Mac

Mac is a Firearms Officer within the ARV Unit.

The Primary role of ARV is to provide 24/7 spontaneous response to firearms incidents, and incidents where the threat, harm or risk deems the deployment of armed assets necessary. ARVs will deploy where their specialist skill set is best suited, this is under the command of the Force Control Room Inspector (Oscar 1) or the Tactical Firearms Commander (TFC) from the on duty Cadre. ARV also participate in both armed and unarmed planned operations often working in conjunction with the National Crime Agency (NCA), Serious Organised Crime Unit (SOCU), Surveillance Units and Counter Terrorist Specialist Firearms Officers (CTSFO).

Due to skill set, training and experience of many of the PCs on the department they can support other force units and other emergency services in a variety of ways. For instance:
 
Peruse violent villains and wanted suspects that other departments have tasked Firearms to deal with due to their mind set and experience.
Assist with medical emergencies using the Officers enhanced trauma medical skills when Ambulance cannot deploy or deployed.
Peruse stolen vehicles or vehicles used in crime that are failing to stop for Police by using their advanced driving skills.
Force entry into buildings when there is a legal power to do so with Officers method of entry skills.
Deploy to incidents with Taser were the subject may have a weapon or is extremely violent.

Officers need to have completed their two or three years probation and be competent in their role with no sickness or disciplinary issues.
