Our Front Counter team is the face of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary. Based across 19 police stations, our Police Contact Enquiry Officers provide vital support to the public and our internal teams – offering reassurance, guidance, and a professional service at every interaction.

Whether someone walks through the door needing help, calls for advice, or submits a report online, the Front Counter Team are there to assess their needs, gather information, and ensure they receive the right support.

As a Police Contact Enquiry Officer, you’ll play a key role in keeping our communities safe. Responsibilities include:

  • Receiving and assessing enquiries, crime reports and intelligence from the public, partner agencies and police colleagues
  • Supporting victims through face‑to‑face conversations, telephone call‑backs and online reporting systems
  • Identifying risk, gathering information and determining the safest and most appropriate response
  • Recording accurate information across a wide range of police systems
  • Maintaining station security and carrying out visitor identification checks
  • Booking and managing fingerprint appointments, and providing fingerprints to approved organisations
  • Coaching and mentoring colleagues when required

We’re seeking individuals who can stay calm under pressure, communicate clearly, and provide a high‑quality service in a busy environment. You should have:

  • QCF Level 2 qualification or equivalent experience
  • Strong customer service or public‑facing experience
  • Confidence handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Windows applications
  • Experience producing accurate written documentation
  • A full UK driving licence
  • The ability to assess information critically and make sound decisions
