Police Constable – HC619986

Join Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary and start a career where every day feels different and where what you do genuinely matters 🚔

As a Police Constable, you’ll play a key role in keeping people safe. You’ll respond to emergencies where quick thinking and calm problem solving make all the difference. You’ll investigate crimes, interview suspects, victims and witnesses, and gather the evidence needed to secure justice. You’ll also spend time engaging with local communities, building trust and helping to resolve the issues that matter most to them.

From day one, you’ll be supported to build the skills and confidence you need to succeed.

You’ll complete an 18 week initial training programme, giving you the foundation to respond to incidents, understand legislation and build strong investigative skills.
You’ll then spend 15 weeks on the frontline, working alongside an experienced officer. Through the Policing Plus route, you’ll also achieve a Level 5 Diploma in Professional Policing, allowing you to earn while you learn.
Throughout your career, you’ll continue to receive ongoing development tailored to your interests and goals.

Your journey will begin in uniform, but your future can take you in many directions.

After your probation, you could learn specialist skills such as response driving, conducting licensed searches or supporting public order. You could join specialist teams including firearms, roads policing or the dog support unit. If investigations are your passion, you can train to become a Detective Constable. If safeguarding or high harm crime interests you, you could progress into public protection, cybercrime or counter terrorism teams.

We offer a starting salary of £33,164 (including a £2,000 South East allowance), rising to £50,000+

Meet Hannah, Operational Football Officer

“Alongside my role as an Acting Police Sergeant in the Neighbourhood Policing Team, I’m also one of Hampshire’s Operational Football Officers. My job is all about engaging with supporter communities and providing live information to help keep matches safe.

The intelligence we gather shapes future policing plans, and because we cover everything from the Premier League to the National League, every fixture brings different challenges. I mainly work Aldershot Town FC games, home and away, and knowing the supporters well really helps prevent disorder and build trust.

Football policing is genuinely fun – you work with officers from across the force and become a familiar face to fans week after week.

Outside of work, I spend time with family and friends, especially my three nieces, and I always make sure I’ve got a holiday booked.”
