DHEP Recruitment Update – Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary
Thank you for your interest in joining Hampshire Constabulary through the Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP).
At this time, we are not actively recruiting via the DHEP route. This decision is part of a wider review of national entry pathways into policing, with a focus on streamlining training and ensuring we meet the evolving needs of both our officers and the communities we serve. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary recognises the hard work and dedication which has gone into obtaining your degree and that is why we have the Policing Plus Graduate entry path as an alternative. This means you can focus on your training, development and personal life, whilst learning your new career and still obtaining a professional qualification.
We understand that this may be disappointing for those who hold a degree and were hoping to join through this route. However, we encourage you to explore our other entry pathways that remain open. including:
- Policing Plus – a 2 year programme that allows you to focus on the role of becoming a Police Officer without studying for a degree or diploma whilst you complete your probation. No degree is required.
- Direct Entry Detective Constable – this is open for a limited time each year. However should you want to become a Detective, then join now and you will be provided with mentorship through for your first 2 years before you apply to become a Detective. This allows you to experience your time as a uniformed Officer and then keeps your options flexible about which career path you take – there are so many roles open to you in Hampshire Constabulary.
- Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) – for those without a degree or seeking a fully funded route into policing while earning and learning – this route will be opening up later this year.
- Experienced Officer Transfers – for officers transferring from other forces or from non Home Office – your experience is hugely welcome in Hampshire & Isle of Wight. Whether you live locally or want to re-locate – we have a beautiful County waiting for you to explore.
- Staff Roles and Volunteer Opportunities – which can also provide valuable experience and insight into policing. We have lots of opportunities to join our organisation in other ways and make a significant impact on the Communities we serve.
As national policing entry routes continue to evolve, we will review our recruitment plans and provide updates accordingly. We recommend checking our careers page regularly or signing up for job alerts to stay informed of future opportunities.
Thank you for considering a career with Hampshire & isle of Wight Constabulary.
