Entry Routes

We offer three training options to joining as an officer, from here we will then help you choose your specialism, and support you if you would like to become a detective constable

Below is an overview of each option, but don’t worry we don’t ask you to choose now. Apply to be an officer and we will help you find which is best suited to you, and support you every step of the way.

Direct Entry Detective Constable – Our Direct Entry Detective Constable programme is now open – apply today if you’re ready to make the difference.

The Direct Entry Detective Constable (DEDC) programme provides you with the opportunity to become an accredited detective within two years. Initial training for this programme will commence in November 2026.

A 2-year path to becoming a Police Constable: no degree or diploma required.

A 2-year programme for graduates: show vision, drive, and determination, and unlock real career development.
